KITCHIT:  WHAT IS THE ONE KITCHEN TOOL (OTHER THAN A GOOD CHEF'S KNIFE) THAT YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT?
ARIANE RESNICK:  A high-quality blender. Life wouldn't be complete without new versions of avocado mousse on the regular.
WHERE CAN YOU BE FOUND/WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON YOUR DAYS OFF?
In addition having created Rawk-n-Roll Cuisine, a brand of raw/vegan/organic snacks sold in health food stores, I co-founded a company with my spouse called Dear Sparrow. We provide custom furniture to restaurants and retail spaces, and recently furnished the new A.O.C.
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL DINNER PARTY OR EVENT:
Classes are my favorite! I'm more than happy to tackle a dinner party, but I ADORE the interaction of education. From how to use common ingredients in new ways, to demystifying superfoods, to the medicinal benefits of various plants, my breadth of knowledge is wide and I love to share it.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING A CHEF?
I love not only making healthy food taste miraculously decadent, but also showing others that they can do that, too.
WHAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE DISH?
I have two, and they are polar opposites: a five-cheese gluten-free macaroni and cheese, and a four layer raw vegan chocolate candy.
DESCRIBE YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MEAL:
The first time I ate Ethiopian food. It turned my knowledge of meal time on its head! Everything from eating without silverware to the extremely diverse flavor profiles of the stews made me realize how narrowly I'd thought about food before.
MY CULINARY IDOL OR ROLE MODEL IS:
Molly Katzen. I've loved her since I was a little girl, and have the cookbooks of hers on my book shelves that were once on my mom's.
THE FIRST DISH I EVER LEARNED TO COOK WAS:
Linguine alle vongole as a teenager; I had it at a restaurant and felt the need to eat it constantly thereafter.
MY BEVERAGE OF CHOICE IS:
Kombucha for non-alcoholic, and a Sonoma mourvedre for alcoholic.
WHEN I'M AT HOME AND COOKING JUST FOR MYSELF, I MAKE:
Ridiculously complex raw vegan creations.
MY FAVORITE SEASON FOR COOKING
Summer, without a doubt! The produce selection at local markets is unbeatable.
MY FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR IS:
Rum raisin; I love to make a homemade version using grapes dehydrated from the farmers market, raw milk, pastured eggs, coconut sugar and organic rum.
MY FAVORITE LOCAL PRODUCE ITEM IS:
Stone fruits in summer, persimmons in fall, sweet potatoes in winter, and Mexicola avocados in spring (though sometimes I'm lucky and they reappear in fall).
MY FAVORITE BREAKFAST CEREAL IS:
Sprouted buckwheat crunchies with chocolate grass-fed whey protein, cacao nibs, mulberries, and fresh almond milk.
WHAT IS THE ONE FOOD OR FOOD GROUP YOU COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT?
Produce! Fresh veggies and fruit comprise at least 75% of my diet.

Working with Chef Ariane was an absolute pleasure. I hired her very last minute for a series of family dinners that happened to be very diet restrictive. Despite the menu limitations, Chef Ariane more than delivered with fresh ingredients, delicious food, and a wonderful attitude. I would definitely work with Ariane again!
