My approach to food and love for contemporary California cuisine have been guided by my work at four of the Bay Area's top restaurants (Manresa, Coi, Quince, Delfina). I'm passionate about my ingredients and will bring you only the best our area's farms have to offer (or I'll take you with me to the farmer's market and show you what I'm picking!). Unforgettable food; impeccable, friendly service.

An outstanding experience!! Chef Ryan Baker arrived early and was extremely organized and professional. Each of his dishes maintained a balance between simplicity in ingredients and subtle complexity in flavors. His execution was emaculate-- each dish was plated elegantly and presented by him in a very charismatic and thoughtful manner. We look forward to using Chef Ryan for another special event in the near future!

We recently arranged a dinner for four. Chef Ryan Baker put together a great experience, despite having only two days notice. His menu was creative, he was incredibly easy to work with, and paid attention to detail - he even went so far as to print menus for the meal. He designed a menu with one vegetarian meal and one meal that had no shellfish in it. My request was that all the meals share some main elements so that all four diners could have a common experience - and Ryan delivered. His courses were beautiful and flavorful. Ryan is also very friendly and made the entire dining experience a memorable one. Thanks, Ryan!

Ryan was great to work with. I planned this birthday dinner for my partner at the very last moment--just a couple of days beforehand--and Ryan was really helpful and responsive. The menu we had was excellent, and the one little change I want made to the menu was done with no problem at all. Overall the dinner was exactly what I wanted. The only non-'5 star' rating is due the the overall cost of the meal---doing a private dinner for only 2 people is pretty pricey. We got exactly what we wanted, but it wasn't cheap. But yes, it's understandable....and it was worth it as I needed to plan the event at very much the last minute. The birthday boy was happy---very happy---so it was definitely a very successful dinner. Thanks again Ryan!

Each year, a group of 10 colleagues get together at a restaurant for a wine dinner. This year we tried kitchit, with chef Ryan Baker, at our home Usually our dinners are more about wine, but this year it was about the amazing food & experience. Ryan put together an amazing menu that accomodated special food requirements (1 gluten free, 1 non-pork, 1 non-red meat eater, and 1 unusual allergy). He was very engaged in understanding up-front what we wanted. He gave wine varietal recommendations and modified the menu based on our preferred wine pairings. Ryan came a few hours early for set-up, was accomodating with some last minute changes, was excellent with our guests, and left our kitchen spotless. Having a server, which Ryan requires, was excellent and allowed us to really enjoy the evening. We'll definitely be using kitchit & chef Ryan again. Thank you!

Ryan Baker made a special dinner for my mother's birthday. It was just the three of us and he made a mulit-course high-end, sophisticated meal that could compete with the best restaurants in town. Sourced terrific ingredients and prepared them superbly. Would highly recommend Ryan for an event.

Ryan taught a pasta making class for my husband and me. The entire experience was phenomenal. Ryan was great to work with and the class was great. Everything he made was amazing and delicious. It was an all around terrific evening and I would recommend him to anyone.

I had a group of 8 women colleagues over for the dinner, many of whom have high culinary standards and their own personal chefs. Ryan and his team (Adam, Alex & Rachel) were exceptional -- from the menu planning all the way to the spotless clean up. Ryan prepared 4 delicious small hors d'oeuvres prior to our seating, and followed with a four course meal on par with any 5-star restaurant. We had 2 vegetarians in the group and he was able to accommodate their needs with equal quality attention. Highlights were the garden vegetable beignets, steamed sea scallop/watercress/grilled cucumber/heirloom citruses, and the deconstructed lemon meringue dessert. The incredible food combined with impeccable service, made it so I didn't have to lift a finger. I enjoyed all my guests and they raved about the food. It was a perfect night!

I recently came to San Francisco for a visit with my family, and we stayed in a rental apartment. I originally booked chef Ryan for a California inspired cooking lesson, to give us and some friends a taste of the region, and a break from restaurant hopping. Ryan suggested that we add on a tour of the Marin farmer's market--his favorite in the area. From beginning to end, it was a really special, unforgettable day. We met Ryan at the market in the morning. Ryan gave us tips on what to look for, and also pointed out some of his favorite prepared food vendors, and at least one member of our group got a huge kick out of eating his way through the market. Back at the apartment later that afternoon, Ryan walked us through the preparation of 5 courses, all featuring the bounty we'd just brought home. Ryan brought an entire tool kit with him (even in a tool box!) so we could learn a bit about some of his cool techniques. The menu consisted of a rainbow carrot and pear dish (very similar to the "roots" photo on his profile), that was accompanied by a chicory and dehydrated beer "dirt"--both creative and delicious. Then we had a bright green soup that was a blend of the greens we'd bought. As a perfect example of the gourmet meets causal vibe of the evening, Ryan left a pitcher of extra soup on the table, and we all helped ourselves to more! That was followed by a citrus-y scallop that several of the diners said was the best they'd ever had. The main course was an unbelievably tender rack of lamb with purple cauliflower, which everyone enjoyed learning how to make at home. And for dessert we had a fresh apple tarte tatin. Watching Ryan pull it all together (with some inexpert help from us) was truly fantastic. While we were visiting, we tried some of the best restaurants in San Francisco, and I can say for certain that the meal we'll remember most was this one with Ryan. In part that's because the company was great. But Ryan's friendly attitude, his knowledge of the market, and the amazing meal he cooked really made him one of the heros of our whole week in San Francisco.

We hired Ryan for an intimate dinner party for 4 people. The food was spectacular and he was the perfect combination of engaging with regard to the food and working quietly and efficiently in the background. He came to prepare the meal a couple of hours before the event and it was a pleasure to have him in our home and kitchen. We hope to have Ryan back again soon!
