Are cookbooks meant for beauty, function or both? Our kitchen reading may inspire us but it doesn't always lead us to cooking. Many cookbooks are filled with esoteric ingredients and seemingly impossible recipes. It seems as if some of these books are more about art than instruction. In a time where many of us are turning to online resources for our daily meals, are cookbooks merely cultural capital, or are people actually using them to cook?
